The Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at the University of Virginia, Department of Medicine is seeking a Fiscal Technician to join our administrative team primarily to perform finance and procurement functions on behalf of the faculty and the Division.
This position provides financial support to Division faculty (including PI's), laboratory personnel, and administrative staff.

edu/infectious-diseases/ Fiscal Technicians perform a variety of support duties related to multiple financial disciplines.
They may work in one specific area of finance or support a range of different disciplines, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, grants administration, or treasury.
Fiscal Technicians are often responsible for data entry and reporting within the University's various financial systems.
They perform routine duties under close supervision and seek guidance from supervisors or other experienced team members, as needed.
The successful candidate will: Advise and assist supervisors, faculty, and staff on financial matters as needed, providing up-to-date guidance on University financial policies and procedures.
Process accounting journals, expense report adjustments, and payroll adjustments as needed.
Assist with procurement related purchases and services including lab supplies and equipment, T&E card transactions, and creation of Purchase Orders.
Assist with Supplier Invoice requests including payment processing and tracking, vendor inquiries, and Payment Works registration requests.
Process expense reimbursements for faculty, staff, and lab personnel.
Review and reconcile monthly account certifications.
Review monthly invoices from the Center of Comparative Medicine and assist research labs with timely review and approvals of invoices.
Assist with monitoring expenditures in assigned awards and projects to ensure adherence to budget allocation and spending guidelines, making corrections as needed.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
This full-time position will remain open until filled.
This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma Experience: One year of experience.
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Licensure: None PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
Two to three years of relevant experience.
Proficiency with Workday and account certifications.
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment that requires quick thinking and strong interpersonal skills.
A self-starter with a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and an eagerness to learn.
Demonstrates the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Ability to build relationships, develop internal and external partnerships, and influence change.
Detail oriented, analytical, and organized.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
