These analytics are designed to determine not just where something is, but what it is, where it's been and what it's doing.

GA-CCRi's Activity-Based Intelligence team is looking for a mid-level software engineer with a back-end focus to work with a multidisciplinary team whose mission is to help users identify, view, and interact with activities between entities (e.
g.
, aircraft) and across domains (e.
g.
, air+maritime).
GA-CCRi's streaming geospatial data platform handles billions of records a day and houses petabytes of historical information, enabling rich and impactful analytics, and giving users the ability to keep track of the most relevant information right now, or dive into detailed history.
This role will be primarily on-site at our office in Charlottesville, VA.
We’d really love to have dedicated, team-oriented engineers who are willing to learn and join the team! Positions available in Charlottesville, VA Duties and Responsibilities Determine user requirements and specifications and plan for software development within the broader organizational scope.
Software development includes end-user, system level, and data management applications Collaborate with team and stakeholders to formulate detailed plans for the implementation of software solutions.
Implementation of design including coding, testing, and documentation.
Deployment of applications across the enterprise including cross- platform compliance and ensuring availability of necessary resources.
Assist in planning and coordinating the maintenance of enterprise solutions including debugging and updating to keep pace with the evolving environment.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
As a mid-level engineer, you will be expected to balance technical responsibilities (design and development) with team responsibilities (technical planning, ticket creation, delegation, and mentorship).
You’ll likely conduct demos and presentations, and will be expected to contribute to the software engineering culture and ecosystem at GA-CCRi, across projects, through opportunities like design reviews and shared learning opportunities.

Requirements Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline and four or more years progressive software development experience with a bachelor's degree.
May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must have a thorough understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of programming and analysis concepts.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more software development area; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
Desired Skills and Experience We're looking for someone in this role who is: Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala, Python Curious and excited to learn new technologies Driven to make software that enables users to better accomplish their mission A collaborative problem solver with strong communication skills, able to work with a distributed team Able to build and deploy working prototypes Able to coordinate with a small team of engineers Interested in mentoring and guiding engineers Comfortable working with Linux systems on a daily basis Comfortable with version control and Git Preference given to candidates with a Top Secret Security Clearance Bonus Points if you have experience with: Database technologies, such as: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or others Geospatial data Docker Kubernetes Agile software development Full software lifecycle development Travel Percentage Required None Relocation Assistance Provided Yes US Citizenship Required?
