Folks over 50 (Charlottesville)

Hi, I'm an over 50 yr male wondering if there are other normal avg people in my age group who like me have little or no family and few people they feel like they can call friends in the area.
Sometimes feel lonely or abandoned to your fate in the world or maybe even just want someone different to talk to.
Not sure if there is a group around Charlottesville for folks like us to meet individuals in similar circumstances.
And if there isn't maybe it is time one was started.
I would ask that politics and religion are kept to a bare minimum if not avoided all together.
My goal here would just meet other people like myself and perhaps help other folks also meet people in similar situations.
