*Company: Tucker Griffin Barnes* *Department: Criminal Defense* We are looking for a responsible Legal Administrative Assistant to provide support to a Partner attorney who is the chair of the Criminal Defense Department.
The focus here is on Administrative.
We can teach you as much of the “Legal” part as you will need.
*Job responsibilities:* \* Screen callers for prospective criminal defense cases and related representation.
\* Greet clients and escort them to Partner’s office for meetings \* Act as point of contact for existing clients \* Write and distribute email, correspondence, memos, letters, faxes and forms.
\* Calendar management.
\* Obtain documentary evidence (photographs, text messages, recordings, videos, etc.
) from clients and witnesses, and organize and preserve that evidence in readily accessible format.
\* Review and summarize records, including medical records.
\* Maintain complete documentation of all activities in the file.
\* Track own time spent on individual client files, and enter Partner’s time for billing.
\* Pick up and deliver documents and pleadings in Charlottesville and surrounding counties.
\* Miscellaneous: make coffee, run errands, pick up lunch and supplies, walk the puppy! *Requirements:* \*Strong belief that everyone is entitled to a vigorous legal defense, no matter the allegations against them.
\*Ability to maintain professional distance, clinical perspective, and strict confidentiality in the face of sometimes disturbing subject matter.
· Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and photocopiers.
· Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
· Ability to prioritize work.
\*Ability to track billable time.
· Good written and verbal communication skills \*Willingness and ability to learn with attention to detail.
Law firm experience is a bonus, but not required.
The ability to observe and remember how things are done (for instance, how a subpoena is issued and served), and then to generalize that to the next case is a MUST.
\*Must love dogs.
Partner has a puppy and several other employees of the firm bring their pets to work.

Education: * High school or equivalent (Preferred) Experience: * administrative assistant, college internships, military service, or customer service: 3 years (Preferred) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $18.
