The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia is seeks applicants for a full time postdoctoral researcher to work in the lab of Dr.
Bryce Paschal.
The primary focus of the laboratory is understanding the nuclear function of poly-ADP-ribosyltransferase (PARP) enzymes, including their utility as therapeutic targets in treatment-resistant prostate cancer.

Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.
D.
or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University.
Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.
Candidate will perform experiments subject to the PI and his or her requests based on the project and its specific aims.
Candidate will meet with PI on a regular basis to discuss research data and decide next steps for conducting experiments.
Candidate will present data at lab meetings or potentially at a conference.
Candidate will keep accurate records and document data in computational work books.
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree by the start date of the appointment.
Prior experience in cell culture and biochemistry
Highly organized, detail-oriented, capable and willing to work both independently and as a team member.
Familiarity with RNA-seq and ChIP-seq methods including computational analysis, and use of animal models for the study of cancer disease mechanisms, are all highly desirable
