Looking for a nice place near Waynesboro (Waynesboro)

I'm a retired Network Engineer and I'm a single Service Connected 12 year US Navy DAV veteran, I have one very well behaved cat, a very steady verifiable monthly income and a very clean and responsible adult, non smoker, non drinker with no substance abuse issues.
I'm looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom house, cottage or cabin in a safe and secure area within a 15 mile or so radius of Waynesboro.
I moved down to NC in June 2022 and I do not like it here.
One of my close and former shipmates lives in Waynesboro, and we're trying to find a place for me near him so we can go out on road trips on our motorcycles.
We are not "bikers.
" I'm looking for after the 1st of the year, and would like to find a nice place before April of 2024.
One or two year lease required.
