Nathan Swami within a project on wearable microfluidic sensors for profiling of biomarkers from interstitial fluids.
This research work is in the field of electrical and electrochemical measurement of aptamer-based receptor binding to target biomolecules that are extracted from interstitial fluid using a wearable hydrogel patch.
Specific skills include expertise in principles of electrical and electrochemical measurement, biofunctionalization methods, microfabrication and nanostructure synthesis, hydrogel patterning and sensor device integration.
Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting electrochemical instrumentation, 3D printing of structures (e.
g.
, microneedles), biofabrication (e.
g.
, biomolecular receptors and biomaterials) and integration of wearable devices are recommended.
Other duties outside the lab include lab protocol maintenance, data analytics, attending research team meetings, co-advising Ph.
D.
students, helping co-write manuscripts for publication and formulation of ideas for grant applications.
Incumbents will also receive support and mentoring in ways to improve research skills, the preparation of grant proposals, and responsible research practices.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctoral degree in an engineering or science discipline with training in electrochemical sensing is required by the start date.
Research experience in biosensing, biofabrication and device integration beyond that from Ph.
D.
research work is preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and analytic skills are required.
The candidate must be able to work in a lab environment and remotely from home, as necessary.
